Erie or Bust

What a trip!!! Arrived at Erie Harbor at 8:00, found dock and got tied up by 9:00. Eleven hours to go 95 miles then an additional hour to go 1/4 mile, in the dark, with Val as a first mate. Val actually did pretty well. The biggest challenge after finding the marina was when the dock hand asked me to spin the boat around (54 foot boat, 60 foot wide canal, IN THE DARK) Kathy was guiding me, we got turned around without incident. We left CLE this morning with a forecast of 1-2 foot waves, NOT. The first 3 hours we fought 2-4 footers with an occasional 6 footer tossed in to keep us on our toes. After two hours the conversation went like this:

ME-  Jesus Christ, if this shit keeps up we wont reach Erie till Monday, if we don't run out of fuel first.

VAL- I'm thinking this isn't such a grand idea after all. Does Jeff know he is supposed to have my Blazer in Erie for me tomorrow?

Tucker= Jesus Dad, what the hell is up?

We had to tack North by Northeast to keep the bow in the water (Erie is due East).

Around 1:00 the Lake gave up on it's attempt to kill us and settled down. This allowed us to use the Autopilot and actually travel toward our destination. All in all a very successful day.
