C & D Canal closed due to fog, dumb luck.

We didn't make the top of the Chesapeake yesterday as planned (missed by 20 miles or two hours travel time) and the Marina we stayed at did not open for fuel until 8:30. We needed to travel 125 miles today and I was cursing myself for not running later last night. After being on the water a while this morning the Coast Guard announced on the radio that the C & D Canal remains closed due to fog. Even if we had run the extra 2 hours last night we would have had to wait for the fog to clear in the canal in the morning. DUMB LUCK.

We did make Cape May and actually got in our dock by 6:30. What a marina, the last photo is of the "Miss Chris Yacht Center", WOW.

This is the chart of the Chesapeake Bay, C & D Canal,  Delaware Bay, and Cape May, NJ.  The total distance from Norfolk (bottom) to Cape May was 325 miles. We traveled nearly 125 miles today to reach Cape May. I throttled the old girl up and we had a favorable tide going down the Delaware.

The end of the C & D Canal.

Of course we met this beast on the Canal. Notice the fog still lingering.

Best looking lighthouse on the Bay.

Our home for the night. "Miss Chris Yacht Center" did not rate on "Donna's Shower Rating System". They didn't have a shower facility, no surprise.
