This morning Donna asked if I had heard the loud "bump" in the night. I hadn't heard anything and wondered what Donna had to drink before she went to bed. Before we left dock we found that a 30 foot tree trunk had drifted into the stern of the boat and was lodged under it. The tidal currents can be fierce here and I suppose that log made one hell of a "bump" when it hit, sorry Donna. Tom pushed the log out of the way before we left.
We have traveled nearly 400 miles on this first leg and docked at six marina's. I now have a rating system for the marina's, it is referred to as DMSR (Donna's Marina Shower Rating) and rates the cleanliness and overall appeal of each marina's bath houses. Osprey Marina rated highest with a 9.7 while Leland Oil Company was dead last with a 1.8.
This crews last port is Dudleys Marina in Swansboro, NC. Val and Denny arrived at 8:00 this evening and are staying at a local Holiday Inn. Tomorrow morning Donna, Tom, and Skip will head home and my new crew will help sail "Whatever It Takes" on to Norfolk, VA.
