Swimming against the current.

We left port this morning at 6:45 and planned to travel the balance of the Chesapeake. I hadn't factored the tidal currents. Our speed was 11.5 mph yesterday and we were burning 10 gallons of fuel per hour. Today we traveled at an average of 9.2 mph and burned 11+ gallons per hour. At 4:00 i realized we would not reach the C&D  marina until after 8:00. That's 13 hours for the dogs, not fair. I called and found a marina 2 hours closer. The Great Oak marina is more like a country club, very nice.

Still hope to reach Cape May tomorrow. Its around 100 miles but we should have the current with us.

Eddie is a Blue crab Fisherman. He was heading out to check his pots and re bait them with "razorback clams" ($40 per bushel). Eddie said "They are better than fish".

The Chesapeake was calm as a mill pond.

The Bay Bridge. After we first spotted the bridge, it still took an hour and a half to reach the damn thing.

Upper Chesapeake Bay homes.

Our home for the night.

Perfect ending.
